Types of STDs / STIs:
- Bacterial and protozoal STDs / STIs like gonorrhea and chlamydia are treatable or curable with antibiotics.
- Viral STD / STIs like HIV and herpes are generally not curable but symptoms can be effectively managed with anti-virals and may even be kept in remission for a long time.
- Growths and lumps caused by HPV can be removed with topical creams or non-invasive and relatively painless techniques like liquid nitrogen or cryotherapy.
- Fungal STDs / STIs like Candida are treatable but tend to recur once in a while.
- Parasitic STDs / STIs like pubic lice are treatable and tend not to recur unless re-contact with infested sex partner.
